REELHARBOR / GET STARTED

Save a video.
Stay on the page.

ReelHarbor retrieves public Instagram videos automatically, prepares one complete file, and validates it before you save. No original-file registration is needed.

Add to Chrome ↗

ReelHarbor v2.6.0 is live on the Chrome Web Store, with photo downloads and hold-to-play 2× speed.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

  1. Open the official ReelHarbor listing in Chrome on your computer.
  2. Click Add to Chrome, then confirm Add extension.
  3. Open Chrome’s Extensions menu and pin ReelHarbor to your toolbar.
  4. Open an Instagram Reel or video post, then click ReelHarbor or Download with ReelHarbor.
  5. Confirm that you own the media or have permission, then choose video or available audio. ReelHarbor prepares and saves the validated file.

Already have ReelHarbor?

If you installed it from the Chrome Web Store, you can keep using that copy. Chrome handles extension updates automatically.

If you previously installed a manual copy, install the Store version using the button above, then disable or remove the older copy in Chrome’s Extensions menu to avoid duplicate buttons.

Hold for 2× video playback

Available in ReelHarbor 2.6.0: On supported videos in Instagram Web, hold the 2× HOLD button on the floating ReelHarbor toolbar to play at double speed. Release the button to restore the previous speed.

You can also long-press the video for about a third of a second to activate 2× on supported layouts. Ordinary clicks still behave normally. To disable this feature, open ReelHarbor’s extension popup and turn off Hold videos for 2× playback.

2× affects playback speed only; it does not make video downloads faster. The speed adjustment happens locally in your browser without uploading the video. Stories are not supported. This feature is available in ReelHarbor v2.6.0 from the Chrome Web Store.

Download Instagram photo posts

Available in ReelHarbor 2.6.0: On supported public Instagram image posts, a small Photo button in the ReelHarbor in-page toolbar lets you save the displayed photo without opening the extension popup. The control is movable, and downloading starts only after you click it.

Photo downloads are an extension feature, not part of this website's video/audio link downloader. Availability depends on Instagram exposing a supported media file. Stories are not included in the 2.6.0 update. Only save media you own or have permission to download.

Release status: This feature is available now in ReelHarbor v2.6.0 from the Chrome Web Store.

Supported downloads

Public Instagram video posts/Reels are retrieved directly. When the platform supplies separate video and audio, the server combines compatible tracks into one finished file. Audio mode uses an available standalone platform audio track.

The default limit is 64 MiB and 20 minutes. Videos are selected up to 720p where dimensions are known. Preparation can take time; the page does not need to play the video. Private, paid, age/login-restricted, DRM and live content are unsupported. A platform may also block requests from the hosting server.

If a download fails

Page not detected: click the refresh arrow, or paste the video's Share link. Profiles and playlists are not individual videos.

Platform blocked: the platform refused this server's request. Try again later. Registering an original file is not required and will not repair that connection.

No audio format: the platform did not provide a supported standalone audio track for this link.

Expired: prepare the download again for a fresh link. Too large: try a shorter video. Incomplete media: no file is offered because the received data could not be validated.

Service unavailable: close and reopen the extension, then try again. If the error continues, use Copy error details and contact the developer through the link in the extension.

Studio sample

The home page's sample is generated demonstration media. It helps check saving a file but does not test a real Instagram download.
